Kontrol Panel
I know these aren't so popular in Japan, but has anyone ever seen a Mortal Kombat control panel that would fit an Astro??

Re: Kontrol Panel
MK rocks!
Going to make this into something physical one day. I have the blank astro CP from starcab, but haven't had the CPO made yet.

Re: Kontrol Panel
I knew this thread was about MK as soon as I read the title haha!
I think this is totally possible, you got to worry about the installation depth of american parts (please don't tell me that you're trying to use Sanwa parts for MK!!)
I think I can help you if you need it Let me know if you do

Ew, run button.
(There's only one game in the Mortal Kombat series, IMO. I refuse to admit that anything other than MK2 ever existed :p)

Re: Kontrol Panel
Sure it will be sanwa parts, already got the bat-top
Never got used to the run button when I had a dedicated Midway MK3 cabinet - too much spacing between buttons so you couldn't really reach it, unless you had enormous hands.

UMK3 still keeps me up till silly hours of the morning on XBLA. One of the most technical fighters of it's time.

Re: Kontrol Panel
I never really enjoyed the "simple simon" approach to combos (learn button taps in a certain order) that MK3 introduced (I guess we have Killer Instinct to blame for that). Plus the run button :{Xenepp wrote:UMK3 still keeps me up till silly hours of the morning on XBLA. One of the most technical fighters of it's time.

Mortal Kombat 3 like Way of the Warrior has the humour (it's a pant wetting funny game for all the wrong reasons)

Re: Kontrol Panel
naaah you need the authentic retarded layout.kernow wrote:you could always use a standard 6 button layout

?
The only way it could be more retarded if you got the scatter dice from a game of warhammer and used this to calculate button playcement

Next you'll be telling me SFIII should never have used the parry system
Have you tried using the standard SF layout for UMK3? Just try running at your opponent while getting your combo onnaaah you need the authentic retarded layout.

Re: Kontrol Panel
Finally ready, a few years in the making Tried PS14k colored buttons first, but that didn't look good at all, so swapped them with dark hai.

Re: Kontrol Panel
That looks absolute stunning. Shame about the start buttons covering the logo, but other than that, very nice and dead jealous of it

Re: Kontrol Panel
I personally hate the MK games, but that cp really rocks!
Could you not use the clear seimitsu start buttons with the cp picture parts under the button tops? You'd get a bit more of the logo back...

Re: Kontrol Panel
Thanks for feedback
Somehow, translucent buttons doesn't go well with glossy black cp's:

I'm not too fussed about the logo in the middle and the start buttons - was the plan all along. The main thing is actually to be able to do fatalities and play MK2/UMK3 again - that damn Naomi Universal put a stop to that 3 years ago.
Shopping list for people wanting to do customs:
http://triplemoonstar.brinkster.net/mcs/" - Overlay, super quality, great service!
http://www.starcab.net/" - 2l0B, got the 0l0b couple of years back because they were out of the 2l0b, but never got around to using it. Fitting joysticks to bare metal is no simple task, so go with one that has a mount already
http://akihabarashop.jp/" - buttons, sticks, CP bolts and AMP-UP connectors/pins for harness
Q-MAX 30mm and 24mm hole punch for smooth holes, got these on ebay
